Twin Screw Supercharger Matched Clutch/flywheel Packages
With the amount of torque the Twin Screw Supercharger System creates immediately off of idle, the average clutch/flywheel setup not suffice. Our Twin Screw clutch package utilizes a custom heavy duty pressure plate with dual diaphragm springs and a steel billet pressure ring. The clamping force of this unique pressure plate has been increased to give a 50% power handling safety margin to survive the abuse one may put a clutch through, whether racing or daily driving. Please note that no part is 100% fail safe. The extra margin of safety designed into this clutch system is there to increase reliability and effectiveness. Too much slipping of any clutch can wear it out or cause clutch/flywheel damage. We utilize a Kevlar friction disc for better clutch feel and "bite" while a sprung hub design helps elimintate unwanted drivetrain noise.
We have also sourced a unique lightweight steel flywheel (20lbs vs the stock 25lbs) that works in conjunction with the heavy duty pressure plate to handle the large increase in power. The steel flywheel is better placed in high torque applications because of it's lower coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE). It's expansion properties are not as exaggerated as that of aluminum. With an aluminum flywheel the steel friction surface heats up and expands at a different rate than the rest of the flywheel. This CAN cause "potato chipping" in some cases, where the flywheel will concave in itself in order to relieve the stress of overheating. A steel flywheel minimizes the chance of any potato chipping while the added weight over an aluminum flywheel makes for easier driving.
Those still interested in the benefits of a lightweight flywheel, we offer the same clutch package above with a JB Racing 10lb lightweight flywheel as well. This flywheel is as tough and high quality as they come. Helicoil inserts are used for all of the threads, they are zero balanced, and feature a replaceable, hardened steel friction surface.
